Walk In The Forest
Couple of days ago I was in the 'oldest bar in Amsterdam', drinking something called 'a walk in the park' and also eating dutch cheese plus ox sausage.

Ethan Bodnar is a graphic designer, author, and student who lives and works in the United States—he’s also the creator of the fantastic posters opposite (purchase them here).

Howies are the masters of the 'dropping knowledge'…
The picture opposite is the message on the back of a parcel encasing my new jeans—lovely thoughts/stuff.

My favourite flavour from my favourite smoothie-makers and a little doodle.

Had a fantastic time meeting old and new friends in New York and Philly.

I’m heading stateside to New York and Philadelphia for a few days (tad nervous as I’m not a big fan of cities or loads of people—honoured to have the means and opportunity though).

1 terabyte (for main backup as my existing 320 gigabyte is nearly full), 320 gigabyte (about the size of a A5 moleskine and will be used for when I’m traveling) and 8 gigabyte (to beef up my new HD cam).
The alleged computer on board Apollo 11 had 32k of memory—the equivalent of a simple calculator.
liberation from DK on Vimeo.
Liberation explores a great quote by Jørgen Leth on limitations and imagination.
Shot on my new Samsung VP-HMX20C HD using the macro mode it’s my first ever creative endeavour (and first upload to vimeo—be nice).
Music also by me via Garageband—feel free to comment as I need to learn…

On the train home from London someone had decided to add a little life to the back of the armrest.
Made me smile, especially when the person in front started to move it.
This years winner of the short film category of the Portable Film Festival.

I’m a pacifist. Hate violence. Denounce war. Reject macho-egos.
Then why do I enjoy strapping up my fists and punching the beejeebers out of out a bag or my partners pads?

The Dark Ages were defined by “a lack of contemporary written history, general demographic decline, limited building activity and material cultural achievements in general (source).”
Does that mean we know are living in the Light Ages?
1. one well-chosen song
2. crazy and creative students
3. at least one professor
4. on-campus production at your own university
5. not a single cut!
6. a lot of fun!

No matter how tired / rough / sad / lonesome / grumpy etc I feel, this never fails to create a smile…
(I used to be a ‘greaser’ when I was in my teens…)

I was 5p short at the shop today. The lady simply said I could pop it in tomorrow (I go there often as it’s the only shop in the village).
Sometimes a simple act of trust is so much more than the price.

Walking in Cardiff and coming across a sweet view—my favourite were flying saucers and fizzy cola-bottles… yours?
Beautiful.

From 9th August 2008, you will be able to gather your own impression of Orwell’s face from reading his most strongly individual piece of writing: his diaries. The Orwell Prize is delighted to announce that, to mark the 70th anniversary of the diaries, each diary entry will be published on this blog exactly seventy years after it was written, allowing you to follow Orwell’s recuperation in Morocco, his return to the UK, and his opinions on the descent of Europe into war in real time. The diaries end in 1942, three years into the conflict.

My application letter to howies to attend their DO lectures event.

Although these home-made shortbread men was such a nice and heartfelt touch—thank you Shazia.

…is amazing.
Conceived by Buffy, Angel and Firefly creator, it serves as a further illustration of the continuing erosion of boundaries between TV and the web.

…a hug I once gave / received…

“What’s New?” is an interesting and broadening eternal question, but one which, if pursued exclusively, results only in an endless parade of trivia and fashion, the silt of tomorrow. I would like, instead, to be concerned with the question “What is best?,” a question which cuts deeply rather than broadly, a question whose answers tend to move the silt downstream.
Are bees a barometer for the wider issue of pollution on this planet?
When it comes to nature, I think everything is connected.
What do you think?

All created in Garageband, starting with only the vocal audio. I should do more as I really enjoy putting them together…
Been about twenty years since I last played and tonight I lost every game I participated in at the second Scrabble Sunday event.
Fun though.
One of these cool cats is my Dad. Taken mid/late sixties, my Dad was a skin basher in this and many other bands for the next fifteen years.
It’s my new wallpaper on my laptop.
Currently working up a script for a film short inspired by the work of the fantabulous Hillman Curtis.
Even Hillman was at a stage in his life where he had never written a script before… that's a comforting and influential thought for us all as we pursue new creative endeavours.
